The Joint Council
The Joint Council (Fællesrådet, abbreviated “FR”) is the supreme body of PF. FR makes the executive decisions for PF, such as approving committees, student representatives for DTU’s boards and councils, and PF’s budget. The Joint Council can be contacted through the Joint Council’s Executive Committee (FRFU) at frfu@pf.dk.
FR consists of 2-3 students from each Student Council, and PF’s Board also attends all meetings.
FR has meeting approximately once a month during the academic year.
The Joint Council’s Executive Committee
The Joint Council’s Executive Committee (Fællesrådets Forretningsudvalg, abbreviated FRFU) is responsible for ensuring that PF’s Laws and Statutes are complied with in connection with the convening and holding of Joint Council meetings and that the work of the Joint Council is planned and performed in a sensible manner throughout the year. This includes convening FR meetings, nominating keepers of minutes and conductors, and following up on the decision made by FR.
If you have any questions about FR, any items for the agenda at an FR meeting, or anything at all related you are always welcome to contact FRFU at frfu@pf.dk.
Accessibility for English speakers
The Joint Council wants its activities to be accessible to every DTU student. Therefore, it primarily holds its meetings in English. In some special cases there might be points or debates taken in Danish. If this is the case, then either a translator can be found, or the conductor will summarize the points in English.
The agenda for all meetings is writen in English, and all appendices are required to be in English. The only exemption for this is candicies, but they will then normally have an English summary.
If you need anything in relation to FR that is not available to you in English, please do not hesitate to contact the Joint Council’s Executive Committee at frfu@pf.dk.
Minutes
Minutes are kept at every Joint Council meeting. As the language of the meeting is English, the minutes are as well. The open minutes from the Joint Council is available here:
Submitting a candidacy for an election in front of the Joint Council
When there are elections in front of the Joint Council it is preferred that candidates submit a candidacy document. This gives FR representatives the opportunity to discuss the candidacy with their Student Councils. It is possible to stand for election without a candidacy document, though it is still recommended to contact FRFU and inform them of your candidacy.
Candidacy documents are submitted to FRFU via frfu@pf.dk. The deadline for sending the document is one week before any FR meeting Friday 11.59 PM (6 days before a Thursday meeting). This ensures that all student councils have the opportunity to review the candidacy. Candidacy documents received later are sent out if possible, though it can not be guaranteed that they reach the student councils. The date of all elections can be found here on the Danish version of pf.dk.
You are expected to use the official templates when submitting an appendix. Rules for appendices are available in Bylaws and Regulations
FRFU are happy to read through a draft candidacy document and send it back with comments if this is desired. For this to happen the document needs to be sent to FRFU well in advance.
Templates for appendices for the Joint Council
Submitting an item for consideration by the Joint Council
Everyone is welcome to submit an item for consideration by the Joint Council. If you are considering bringing an item in front of FR, please contact FRFU, as early as possible in the process. FRFU will then be in a position to help refine the item, figure out how it is best presented and what preparations are necessary.
As a rule, every item should be accompanied by an appendix. You are expected to use the official templates when submitting an appendix. Rules for appendices are available in Bylaws and Regulations.
Items and appendices, are submitted to FRFU at frfu@pf.dk. The deadline for submission for a given FR meeting is two weeks prior to the meeting on Friday at 11.59 PM (1 week and 6 days before a Thursday meeting). Here the appendix needs to be ready in its final iteration. The date of the next FR meeting can be found here.
